A fun feature to add to DMG is my new Taster Tuesday here in the Games section. Every now and then we will try out a game via demo’s available on the PS4 or elsewhere. Today for our first Taster Tuesday we are trying out the new version of the game Prey released May 2017.

On May 5, 2017, Prey releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC – and, as Morgan Yu, you’ll be mankind’s only hope to stop the Typhon threat from destroying humanity. Prey is the latest game from Arkane Studios, the team behind the multi-award-winning Dishonored series.

Aliens have taken over the space station, and only you can stop them. Or, make that Yu!

Prey is first person open world RPG where the player plays as Morgan Yu based on the space station Talos I. Hostile aliens have overrun the Talos I space station but nothing is as it seems and you, as Morgan, have to set out to unravel the clues you’ve left behind for yourself, and discover the truth about your past. Orbiting the Moon, the Talos I space station symbolizes the height of private space enterprise. Explore a lavish craft designed to reflect corporate luxury of the 1960s, and navigate interconnected, non-linear pathways built to hide countless secrets. The shadowy extraterrestrial presence infesting Talos I is a living ecology bent on annihilating its prey. It’s up to you, one of the last remaining survivors aboard the station, to end the deadly attack of these haunting predators.

Gain alien abilities to develop a distinct combination of powers and upgrade your unique skills. Craft increasingly useful items with the blueprints, gadgets and tools on board the station to overcome dangerous obstacles in your way. Survive unprecedented threats with your wits and ability to improvise.

I picked this game as our first Taster Tuesday as I just thought it literally looked great, seemed to have a good story, the open world format, some combat, exploring and some elements of choice and consequence too. All elements I love in a game. It also reminded me a little of Alien Isolation a game I haven’t played with you guys but one I enjoyed a lot.  Now the demo version of this game gives you the first hours game play.

I don’t think it literally means you play for one hour on the clock and then it stops but what the game makers consider one hours play is. Now I explore a lot so I actually played nearly 2 hours and even then could have continued. However in this video you have the edited version of my game play. Enough to let you get the idea of it and see what you think but not so much so as to spoil it when we play it together for real.

So what did you think? I have to say before I even finished the demo I knew  this was a game I would want to play with you all so I did in fact purchase the Game Disc. What I didn’t realise was that the game disc did mean that what I had played in the demo was lost. I think if I got the download it would have synced but I can’t swear to that. However I am not unhappy to play that section again to be honest because, as said earlier, I like to explore and I did feel I was conscious of it being a Taster Tuesday Lets Try and so rushed over some sections.

So at some point in the near future we will play this together but for the moment though I hope you enjoyed our first Taster Tuesday. Tell me is there anything you know of that is in demo form that we could try for another Taster Tuesday? For now hugs and see you again soon,

DMG Amanda

  1. Hey Amanda, great idea to try new games :o) This one seems pretty cool so far, and those creatures are way creepy! Was it the game or was it you jumping ahead when it sort of seemed to jump here and there and something new was happening or you were somewhere different? Looking forward to seeing more of this one, have fun playing!

    • Yes it was me, if you read above I kinda of explain what and why I did that, but was deliberate although not the intent originally but then could not resist buying the game and you will see above why that changed my plans xx
